Community Matters: Special Day for Group of UAMS Interns

LITTLE ROCK, AR - Today was a special day for a group of UAMS interns.

The Inaugural Class of the UAMS Internship of Young Adults with Disabilities graduated today.

The program teaches valuable employment skills to the students. Arkansas' First Lady Ginger Beebe was one of the speakers at today's graduation. Hollis Carter's daughter was in the program and says provided an expansive experience for his daughter.

"She has been so excited, in fact throughout this entire process she's bounced out of bed every morning, waiting in the car for me, eager to get here thrilled to be graduating."

And good news, almost all of the students in the class have gotten jobs following their internship.
