LITTLE ROCK, AR - A statewide call for contestants to have their work publicly displayed in a growing part of downtown Little Rock.

A non profit organization in the SOMA or South Main area will host a public arts competition.

They call this a first step in a larger master plan for the South Main Street neighborhood, which will involve updating current fixtures and infrastructure and landscape design.

This contest asks for sculpture submissions.

The winner's will be showcased on South Main Street.

"Students can be involved, professional artists, architects, it just depends. Everyone can relate to art in some way. Public art's a great way to initiate something like this," says Devin Williams.

The deadline for the sculpture competition is this December and the final pieces will be installed sometime in October or November of next year.
